SVdP San Mateo County Youth Calendar 2008-2009
SEPTEMBER SOCKS
The homeless men and women we serve need socks. White tube cotton socks are the best way to keep your feet clean, warm and dry if you are living on the streets.

DELIGHTFUL DECEMBER
Our Giving Trees spread joy to many at Christmas... Call 650 589 9039 to see how you or your school can help to spread Christmas cheer to those less fortunate than yourselves.

MARCH MAGIC
During Lent ask your family and friends to sponsor you on a one day fast. Donate the proceeds to SVDP for the homeless!

JUNE JAM SESSION
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are America’s favorite. Collect peanut butter and jelly for SVDP food pantries (there are 33 throughout the county).  These are needed for poor families.
OCTOBER OPULENCE
We all need a sweet treat every now and then to cheer or comfort us. Get your friends to share their Halloween candy with the men, women and children that the Society serves in San Mateo County. Send an email to svdpym@yahoo.com to arrange a drop off or a pick up time.

JANUARY JITTERS
Brrrr…as the icy winds of January blow think of our homeless brothers and sisters. They need sleeping bags to help keep them warm.

AWESOME APRIL
Celebrate Frederick Ozanam’s (SVDP’s founder) birthday, April 23rd. Be inspired by how one young man, Frederick Ozanam, started in 1833, at age 20,  what is today a huge international Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Follow his lead and inspire others to donate to the Society - their time, talent or resources.

JUMPING JULY
It’s hot. Our guests need deodorant, face cloths and soap to stay cool and refreshed in this hot weather.
NOURISHING NOVEMBER
As you enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner remember that homeless and low income families always need: tuna, mayo, peanut butter. Get your school to organize a drive. We will pick up.

FLOSSING FEBRUARY
Life on the road is tough. You have to keep clean but there is no room to pack everything. That’s why SVdP's three Homeless centers always need: toothbrushes, toothpaste floss and deodorant.

MOTHERING MAY
Help our homeless, low income mothers or Catherine Center women feel good about themselves on Mother’s Day. Travel size lotions, shampoos and conditioners always needed. Please call 650 589 9039 for more info.

ASSISTING AUGUST
Give yourself a break from organizing drives for the Society. Come see where all the items you’ve collected are going. Volunteer in one of our homeless centers or stores and see what we do. Send an email svdpym@yahoo.com to learn how.
