HELPING CHILDREN IN POVERTY

In San Mateo County, close to half of the 40,170 people helped last year by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul were children. As tragic as this statistic is, it also challenges our volunteers to make a difference with a child that delivers lifelong benefits. Our child assistance programs include educational and recreational opportunities that develop happier, healthier, more secure kids.

Services
Help with child care expenses so parents can remain on the job.

Get kids ready for back-to-school with clothing and supplies.Arrange for disadvantaged children to attend summer camps.Provide children with shelter, food, clothing—and a loving presence.


Benefits
Children have the opportunity to view and experience life outside of poverty.Children participate in activities that help heal the scars of impoverishment.

With support, parents remain in the workforce and homelessness is prevented.


Volunteer
To help with local home visits, click here for inormation about becoming a Vincentian. 

Help Line operators are needed at the San Mateo District office to listen compassionately to client’s requests for emergency help. Enter data into computer. Spanish speaking helpful. 
Shifts available Monday – Friday 10:00 am  – Noon & 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
