FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Your financial gifts, both large and small, can make a tremendous difference in the lives of people in need right here in our community.  None of the good works accomplished by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul volunteers and members would be possible without the support of people who share the belief that a small kindness can make a big difference in the life of someone in need.

Become a Supporter: by giving regularly to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul you ensure SVdP volunteers can help those who come to them in need.  Your gift can help a mother keep her home, a child get decent clothing for school, or a man in a minimum-wage job feed his family.

Make an Offering:  Please give generously when the Society of St. Vincent de Paul collects at your church. Your offering at the 5th Sunday collection will be used to help people right in your own neighborhood or surrounding areas where volunteers work directly with those in crisis.

Give an Honorarium/Memorial A gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in recognition of a special occasion or in memory of a loved one or friend, is an excellent way to express your thoughts, while making a difference in the lives of people here in San Mateo County.  We will send a card to your loved one informing them of your gift.

Support the Restorative Justice EndowmentSVdP has established a special endowment to provide ongoing support to this important ministry. This fund was created in honor of the late San Mateo County jail chaplain, Deacon Paul Moriarty and long-standing jail volunteer Richard “Dick” Merry.

Top Hat Society:  Donors are invited to become members of “The Top Hat Society” by supporting the Society of St. Vincent de Paul with a total donation of $1,000 or more within a calendar year or by contributing $5,000 of in-kind donations. Frederic Ozanam, the founder of the Society, was known as “the apostle in a top hat” as he visited the patrons of the poor in Paris, France in 1833. Donors are honored at an annual Mardi Gras reception.

Make a Bequest:  Leaving a bequest to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul creates a life-changing legacy for the future. Making your wishes known through a will assures that your intentions are fulfilled and allows you to plan your gift for greatest legal and tax advantage to your heirs. For more information about making a bequest, please contact the Director of Development at (650) 373-0622 or email us.

Plan a Gift:  Careful planning can ensure that you realize maximum benefit from your donation. For instance, equity donations—stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other properties—can provide support for the Society, while accruing multiple tax advantages for the donor. Contacting your financial advisor or calling the Society at (650) 373-0622 for a referral is the first step toward sound planned giving.
